Genuine Indigo on 100% cotton watercolor paper
The Indigo Winter collection was born over a particularly rainy San Francisco winter with its grey skies, torrential downpours, and that particular quiet that settles over everything when blanketed in clouds.
I let the watercolor paint do what it wants by flooding the paper with water and letting it pool, bleed and find its own edges, then coax it into imaginary landscapes with precise brushwork. The tension between surrender and control is what makes watercolor fascinating to me and breathes life into each of these artworks.
Created using Case For Making’s genuine indigo watercolor paint, a rich and moody color with a vast tonal range from pale as the morning fog to deep as a starless night sky.
